Repair Warranty & Aftercare

This page summarises the warranty that accompanies our standard surface repairs, the aftercare that keeps it valid, and the things it does not cover. The written quotation you accept, together with any terms issued with it, governs your individual job.

What the one-year warranty covers

Surface Magic Repairs Ltd provides a one-year warranty on standard surface repairs. It covers failure of the repair itself — flaking, peeling and loss of adhesion between the repair and the surface beneath it. If any of those appear within the warranty period, tell us and we will arrange to look at the repair.

The warranty applies to the repaired area we carried out and recorded, not to the rest of the item or to later damage from a new cause.

Aftercare conditions

A repaired surface behaves like any other finished surface: it needs sensible day-to-day care. Keeping to the following conditions is what keeps the warranty in place.

  • Clean with non-abrasive products only. Abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, powders and cream cleaners will dull or wear through a repair.
  • Avoid strong chemicals and anything that can stain or bleach, including dyes, hair and beauty products, solvents and drain products.
  • Keep sustained high heat and any direct flame away from the surface. Use trivets, boards and heat mats rather than placing hot items straight onto a repair.
  • Do not stand, kneel or drop weight on a repaired area, and avoid dragging heavy or sharp items across it.
  • Let a new repair settle before heavy use, as advised by the technician on the day.

What is not covered

  • Fresh accidental or physical damage after we leave — new chips, scratches, impacts, or misuse of the surface.
  • Staining or discolouration caused by chemicals, dyes or cleaning products.
  • Damage from sustained heat above roughly 350°C, or from direct flame.
  • Problems caused by excess or trapped moisture, by the structure behind the surface, or by movement or settlement of the fixture or fittings.
  • Wear, ageing or existing defects elsewhere on the item that we were not asked to repair.
  • Work carried out by anyone else on or around our repair.

Where damage is outside the warranty we will say so plainly, explain what caused it, and quote separately if it can be repaired.

Reattendance and access

Inspecting the repair in person is part of how the warranty works. We need reasonable access to the item so a technician can assess it and, where appropriate, put it right. If access cannot be arranged, we may be unable to honour the warranty on that repair.

Working conditions and finish

Hard surfaces are originally made in tightly controlled factory conditions, often using high heat or pressure. Those conditions cannot be recreated in an occupied home or building, so there are practical limits to what an on-site repair can achieve. Airborne dust settles on any flat surface while a finish cures, and aerosols or silicone used nearby can affect it.

For that reason our technicians need a controlled working area and will ask that access to it is limited while the repair cures. Existing flaws — manufacturing defects, wear or age-related deterioration — can also show through a new finish. Where that is likely we will explain it, and any additional preparation that was not visible before inspection is quoted before we continue.

A repair is a considered alternative to replacement. The aim is a durable, colour-matched finish that blends with the surrounding surface and looks substantially better than the damage it replaced — not an item that has been remanufactured. Where repair is not suitable, unsafe or poor value, we will recommend replacement instead.

Colour approval on resurfacing work

Where a job includes resurfacing or respraying, you or your representative approve the colour before we apply it. Once applied, changing the colour means reapplying the finish to the whole item, which is chargeable additional work.

Fittings and items around the repair

Our technicians are trained, equipped and insured for surface repair work, and not for other trades. If you ask them to move, remove or refit something outside that scope, it is done as a courtesy and at your risk. Where handles or small fittings have to be loosened or removed to reach the surface, we refit them — unless their age or condition makes refitting impossible, which we will point out at the time.

How to raise a warranty issue

Call 0800 085 7773 or email info@surfacemagicrepairs.com with the address, the approximate date of the repair and clear photographs of the affected area, including one from further back. Photographs let us judge the cause before we attend, which usually means we arrive with the right materials.

This page summarises our warranty position for customers. It sits alongside our website terms and does not replace the written quotation and terms issued for your job. Surface Magic Repairs Ltd, company number 10697713, Unit 5 Nelson Mill, Gaskell Street, Bolton, BL1 2QE.
